AMY KNIGHT is the Executive Director of the Mexican Capital Legal Assistance Program.
She is also Special Counsel at Phillips Black, where the continues to represent people sentenced to death and other extreme sentences in state and federal post-conviction proceedings.
Amy is an experienced and highly trained criminal defense attorney. A graduate of Stanford Law School, where she was an articles editor of the Stanford Law Review and member of the Supreme Court Litigation Clinic, she served as a law clerk to Hon. Lucy H. Koh of the Northern District of California and is the author of numerous law review articles on criminal procedure. Amy presents at trainings and conferences around the country. She has litigated in the United States Supreme Court the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the Arizona and California Supreme Courts, and has represented petitioners in the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights. She has worked extensively on death penalty cases as well as juvenile life-without-parole cases, and has represented clients who have suffered serious violations of their rights in civil lawsuits. Amy also holds an MFA in creative writing from the University of Arizona.
